Geek Pride Day
Today according to various sources, including our wonderful Director of Marketing at the company I work for is Geek Pride Day. As she’s posted in our company blog her Geek Pride statement and encouraged us all to do so, I thought I will post mine.
My mascot today, as always, is Domokun (as shown to the right) which I proudly display at my desk. Domokun in Japan is the well known, perhaps only secondary to Hello Kitty, mascot of the Japanese NHK Television Station. In North America, Domokum is far better known as God or one of God’s underlings in an anti-masturbation advertisement.
Remembering back to my childhood, my first computer was a DEC terminal connected a university VAX 8800 mainframe using an state of the art 300 Baud Acoustic Coupler modem. Of course, like all true Geeks my first programming language3 was C (unlike those n00bs who learned Basic or Pascal).
